Some of our earliest publications
Bogle L’Ouverture Publications
Bogle L’Ouverture Publictions was founded in 1968. It was among the first black owned, independent publishers in the UK, providing a platform for African Caribbean writers to articulate their cultural and social experiences. We select the best works of fiction and non-fiction that introduce radical ideas to educate, entertain and inspire new generations. We are home to pioneers Eric and Jessica Huntley, co-founders of BLP.
Our most influential book is the ground breaking How Europe Underdeveloped Africa by Dr Walter Rodney which has been translated into several languages. Our other bestselling authors include Linton Kwesi Johnson, Andrew Salkey and Valerie Bloom. Continuing in the tradition and philosophy with which we started over forty years ago, we showcase debut and contemporary authors, as well as a range of out of print, forgotten and neglected books about the experiences, achievements and aspirations of African Caribbean people.
